ELOS Workflow

This Program only applies to Elos Digital Impressions:

Just a few simple steps and your ready to submit your case.  We chose to use Elos IO scan bodies for this program because they're one of the more accurate scan bodies in our industry.

1.) Select the correct Elos IO scan body for the corresponding implant site.  Seat and Torque your Elos scan body to 5 NCM.

2.) Take a quick (PA)X-ray.  Knowing it is seated all the way without any obstructions (Tissue or Bone) to the implant interface is key.  A few seconds of your time now can save another chair-side appointment.

3.) Simply scan your patient with the appropriate Elos IO scan body.

Scanning:

When scanning the patient, gathering more information in the scan is always better.1.) When scanning, we ask for at least 3 to 4 teeth on either side of the site.  This is important in the merging process. ( buccal scan alignment)   When scanning a site in the anterior, be sure the scan makes it to the corresponding tooth or teeth.  That info is necessary for the Esthetics (size and shape) of the case.

2.) Get a scan of the tissue without a scan body or healing abutment in place.  This helps us see the contour of the tissue.

*Helpful tip : If a custom healing abutment / Tissue Former (CHA) was used, scan the patient first with the CHA in place.  Next delete that area in the scan with your software.  Now remove the CHA and immediately scan the site,  This will help capture the tissue contour before it starts to collapse.

3.) Place the Elos IO scan body making sure it is seated properly.  Take the final scan of the implant site.  This information is in the Elos information above.

Case Submission Tab:
IO Scan Portal

Upload your scans through your scanners lab communication portal.  Then simply go to www.ddxdental.com and finish your case submission.  We have you use this portal to help case track and manage case workflow.

No IO Portal

If your scanner does not have an IO portal for lab communication or you just want to submit .STL or. PLY files, this can be done in www.ddxdental.com website.

Important information

Please include implant information, platform size or article number.  Just the implant's dimension does not help.   Phone calls trying to figure this information out slows down your case and your office staff.  A lot of implant companies have platform switching or multiple brands that have similar names.

Issues with scans

There are a lot of things to look for with IO scans.  It can be as simple as overlapping of data.

A scan can have over extended portions causing data loss in areas.  The big thing to look for on implant scans is data missing on the scan body, where the scan body meets the tissue, or the contacts.  When data is missing near the scan body, it may cause your scan to incorrectly align.  This would make the digital impression unusable for production.  The last thing to look for, is if there is to much data attached around the site or was not trimmed properly in the software.  We always try to inform our accounts quickly when we see this, but it is all ways a good idea to double check the scans.
