Doug Frye (C.D.T., DTG), and his wife Muffie own Functional Esthetics Dental Lab inc. The lab was started in 1988 in St. Louis, Mo. The office is now located in Farmington, MO where we continue to apply Doug's No Cut-Back Technique™ to all of our layered restorations. The No Cut-Back is a technique in which the colors and characteristics are layered into porcelain instead of on the surface. This technique produces such a life like result in dental ceramics that it is unsurpassed in the field.

Doug is an NBC approved clinician who has lectured for some of the leading dental manufacturers in our industry. His work has been used in numerous articles, marketing, and advertising campaigns. 

Doug and Muffie also have an educational company for technicians called Re-Creating Nature®. The Course teaches other technicians time saving work flows that also focuses on teaching   No Cut-Back Technique™  to build layered restorations. 

Functional Esthetics has also kept pace with our changing industry. The office has multiple desktop scanners from Sirona, 3shape and more while also hosting multiple 3D printers on site to handle all your digital needs.
